I agree. I think I get peeved when people get angry about the church talking about money.... Come on' - if we are gonna do something. (impact our world ),we are gonna need some money. bottom line. It costs money to reach the lost .... right?
So the more money the church has coming through it - the further they can send it. (missions, outreach, etc)....
I think we are fooling ourselves to think to think that without proper teaching on finances we can reach those that are hurting... I say preach the prosperity message more than ever. We have a job to do, and we need the resources and money to do it.

The only problem I have is when spiritual health is tied to being prosperous. I see no mandate for that in the Bible. It also creates a problem for people trying to explain how even the apostle Paul, and other early church leaders, wasn't prosperous in the same sense that I hear the word used, let alone the millions of Christians around the world living in poverty.

And I don't think people are going to question the spiritual health of Paul.

Good thoughts Josh.

It's funny the guys who you usually complain about the "Prosperity message" are usually broke. They ones who are complaining about too much teaching about money in our churches - don't have any. The ones who are upset because we preach "God wants you to prosper" aren't giving there money to God anyways. I see it this way. If they church is broke and has no money how are we gonna reach anyone else. If you cant meet the needs of your own family how will you ever help someone else. I agree, there is some that preach about money only for self gain. But let's not get away from the fact that Jesus talked about money more than any other subject all together. We are to be prosperous so we can take that prosperity and make a difference in the world we live in.

I took 50 teenagers overseas last summer to reach the unreached in a 3rd world nation. The budget was over $125,000 - Who paid for it? A prosperous church (people not a building) paid for all of it.

Could have been done in just about any video editor. Also could have been done in flash...but who would do that for such a simple animation.

BTW...any idea what multimedia program they used to make this presentation? It looks different than the programs I use...my son thought it could have been something as simple as Photoscape, but it seems the integration of music is not possible in that program. Vince, any ideas?

I am so glad that John Piper is redefining his "Christian Hedonism" message. For several years, I couldn't listen to him because he wouldn't separate himself from prosperity teachings or from the deceitfulness of Ayn Rand and her self-absorbed nonsense. Though I don't necessarily agree with Piper's overt Calvinism, I love his statement that this is not gospel, it is crap.

Kyle. I hear what you're saying. Would you say that lot of people are more intent on bringing a culture to the mission field rather than the Gospel.

They think that the holistic development of a person also means that they dress the same as Americans.
