The Unthinkable

It’s an election year and with that comes some serious grenade throwing by all kinds of people and groups trying to get a foothold in the political machine.

As Christians we should put on love before we enter into these tit for tat battles. We can agree that God’s kingdom is what we are a part of and what we should represent and try to expand (read – evangelism).

When was the last time via a heated debate about a political issue did you have the opportunity to see someone come to a faith in Jesus? Never.

So what are we to do about the issues that we as a community are so passionate about? Abortion? Gay marriage? First is love. We first need to look within ourselves and make sure that our every action and word portrays love. I think this first step would pull a lot of people out of the discussion because they are just incapable being love and being proactive for their cause at the same time.

So what if we shift the cause? What if instead of trying to fight to make abortion illegal, we try to make it unthinkable?

What if we loved enough people and showed them the Jesus who has always been there and in turn their regenerated spirit would cause them to rethink their morality?

Achieving the unthinkable is too hard.

Preach it! Instead of making laws to regulate morality, we need to love people and allow God to change their hearts to embrace that morality…
