I Meant What You Knew

I really enjoy seeing truth in lots of people, things, movies, books, kung fu and all over the place. I have an eye for it.

Sometime last week I was checking out some Rob Bell on YouTube. And you know that little sidebar that gives you recommendations on the right? Well most of the videos in there were videos claiming that Rob Bell was full of crap.

I’m not here to take sides or throw rocks at others, but it was a bit disheartening to see the rebuttals, most of which were saying the same thing that Bell was saying, just with a different vocabulary. That’s right, they were saying the same thing.

I think a lot of us Christians tend to get caught up in the dialogue of the Christian community that we are a part of. We get comfortable with a certain vocabulary and with a certain way of looking at things.

When all along the people we think we disagree with actually believe the same thing we do…they just put it in different terms or they leave a key phrase out that you think makes or breaks a given argument.

As Christians, let’s give each other the benefit of the doubt, because after all, we all know what happens to a house divided. That last statement may be too much for a lot of Christians to handle_
