Who is Locustfist?
I like to do things with purpose and meaning. Much like , my username also has more meaning than you might glean at first glance. I never thought to share about Billy until Tam asked what it was all about. In that spirit, let my tell you what Locustfist means.
The origin comes from my days of playing hoops in college. My coach would have us put our hand out flat with fingers extended. Then he instructed us to punch someone with the same hand. Didn’t work. At best you would end up with some sprained knuckles.
Then he would have us make a fist.
The idea was, much like our basketball team, when the hand and fingers worked together, the collective was much more lethal in accomplishing our purpose. I dwelled on the passage in Joel chapter 2 that described the army of locusts.
They charge like warriors; they scale walls like soldiers.
They all march in line,
not swerving from their course. They do not jostle each other; each marches straight ahead.
They plunge through defenses
without breaking ranks.
Yes locusts are generally equated with destruction, but that aside, they are a collection of creatures that is so united in cause and purpose that they are virtually indistinguishable one from the another when they gather into a swarm.
Each locust alone is useless and weak, but together they accomplish they’re purpose with speed and precision.
My passion is to see God’s Church show this kind of unity and focus. A couple months ago of locusts, but when they gave me the nod, I was hit by a financial crisis that didn’t leave room for a tattoo costing a few grand. Maybe that book isn’t closed yet.
