Life With The G1
So I scored a G1 on Friday and I have been getting to know it. You know all those features that you always dreamed your phone could do, well it does now. Of course I’m a guy and I love me some cool technology.
Here are the highlights of what it does
ShopSavvy
I can scan the bar code on stuff at the store and it will tell me how much the other stores near me and online are charging for it.
Gmote
Control my computer from my phone. I use it to control iTunes from all over the house. If you have been to our house then you know that music is always filling it.
Shazam
Hear a cool song and don’t know who it is. Shazam will listen to it and give you the info.
Pintail
Want to hang out? Text ‘locate 9999′ to me and it will tell you where I am. I change that code every now and again.
Zombie Run!
This let’s me know when zombies are getting close and yells at me ‘Zombie, Run!’

I haven’t used pintail or Zombie Run but I have used the rest.
ShopSavvy doesn’t hook me up much at home depot or lowes, or the grocery store all that much but its got potential.
Gmote is disappointing. It sounds scratchy during playback. I opened iTunes to compare and the processor in Gmote is definitely ‘scratching’ the record. Don’t know how that happens but it seems to. Have tried the other one, the one that directly controls iTunes? I can’t get it to work.
All in all, I am impressed.
