Do you really believe?
Sometimes I wonder if we really believe in the stuff in the Bible. Or more importantly, the stuff that Jesus talked about.
Mark 12 has a familiar exchange:
…Love others as well as you love yourself.’ There is no other commandment that ranks with these…
I doubt that enough Christians truly weigh these words and fully grasp what they mean. The people that were present when Jesus had this conversation certainly did. It hit them right in the face. Later in the passage it says:
…After that, no one else dared ask a question.
They absorbed that statement instantly and added up the cost of believing it on the spot. The weight of this concept silenced them.
Do you really add it up?
Have you counted the cost of such a concept?

Tour of California
I have been a cycling fan since I was a kid. Can you picture a scrawny 11 year old zipping around the neighborhood in spandex? The only problem is that pretty much all of the races that my two wheeled heroes were in took place in Europe…until now. A few years ago the Tour of California became a legit event and it now draws all of the elite teams, Ashtynne and I spent the day on Palomar Mountain checking it out.

Jack Bauer on the Kingdom
I’m not into much in the way of TV shows, but I love 24. Yeah it’s really corny and predictable, but it’s fun and let’s be honest, Jack Bauer is my hero.
What if we worked for the Kingdom in the same manner that Jack works for the United States?
No compromise. There is no questioning Jack’s dedication and loyalty.
Jack is not constrained by any bureaucracy that might bog down his efforts.
Jack does what absolutely must be done RIGHT NOW to accomplish the goal.
Jack never loses sight of the immediate purpose, he stays on mission.
He doesn’t get caught up in what people might think of him.
If someone get’s in the way he murders them….
Okay, maybe skip that last one.

This is Titus, he’s our new weimaraner.

Among people who are familiar with weimaraners they tend to get a bad rap. This tends to be because they are really beautiful and are often picked up by people who have no idea what they are getting into and want a fashionable dog. They are both really smart and high energy which is a bad combo if you don’t train them well. I wanted one because they can handle a 9 mile mountain bike ride or 3 days in the back country backpacking with me.

You ever have one of those weeks where you feel like you are running from one thing to the next. I am finishing up one of those weeks. I don’t normally operate this way. I’m definitely not one of those people that has to be doing something all the tme, in fact I make it a point to seek quiet and solitude every week.
So I guess that’s why the blogging was sparse this week. I know that’s rough for my readers as you eagerly await each and every word….or not.
