A conversation about homosexuality

This morning at Gateway Church we had a beautiful and amazing gathering to wrap up our teaching series on sex. Today’s topic was homosexuality and the conversation that took place was powerful. As the panel took the stage they received a standing ovation and the moment brought tears to my eyes…for real, I cried. If you have the time, you should watch this:

Love like Titus

No, not the Titus in the Bible, my dog.

You see, my dog loves you absolutely unconditionally and he hasn’t even met you. He will prove his love when you come visit by licking every available bit of skin on you and leaning against you until you fall over.

Yeah, it’s awkward, but he really loves you.

When we take him down to the lake for a swim he tends to run off. Not the traditional ‘I’m an idiot dog with no sense‘ kind of running off, he does it because he loves you. If you are out for a jog and you pass by, Titus will join you on your run because he wants to be with you. This happened this morning when a lady went jogging past our house. Titus went for a jog with a perfect stranger for a few blocks.

I’m learning from Titus. I’m learning what it means to love people regardless of all that stuff.

What are you learning from your dog?

Surrounded by a cloud of Christians

I have been a casual observer of some movements, on the internet in particular, that at first seemed to be powerful in potential to impact irreligious people for the Kingdom.

Then…nothing.

*crickets*

At first it was really exciting. 3000 people read that guys blog. 10,000 people tuned into that churches live stream. 40,000 people follow that pastor on Twitter. The common theme here is that almost all of the people showing up are Christians.

I think that this is all cool and everything, but it does beg the question; why can’t we create the same movement and energy in an evangelistic direction?

There are Christian ghettos all over the world, and the biggest ones are now on the web.

Is this spiritual warfare or is it just me?

If you’re in a leadership position in an aggressive and innovative church then this is one of those times of year where there might seem to be a lot of spiritual warfare…right? You’re probably planning an incredible teaching series or publicity campaign or whatever.

During these times, I hear a common story about how since we are doing something that stands to make some waves for the Kingdom we are subsequently being attacked by Satan.

I don’t have a problem with that idea.

But I do question it…if you know me, you know I question everything.

What are we saying when we claim that we are being attacked by Satan?

Last week my battery went dead. Was that an attack by Satan or did my battery simply go dead because it got to the age that batteries get to when they die?

just asking_
