Late night entitlement
Conan is the now. Leno is the old. Fallon is the future.
They’re all really good at what they do.
Conan is approaching the time in his life where he will have peak impact.
Leno is on the other side of that curve.
Fallon is just starting his journey.
Who would you invest in?
I see churches with leaders who are in it way past their prime and sitting right there in the wings is a leader who is blossoming.
but there’s this thing….ENTITLEMENT.
I hope I’m willing to step aside when my time comes
I'm not sure that I agree that Leno is past his prime. Maybe it depends on the age of viewer. But you are dead on correct about entitlement.

not so much about his prime…he very well may be in top form. It's his relevance that is waning.

Bingo, bango, bongo. Love it.
And for the record, you said what I said much more effectively. Much more succinct but with the same message. Well done!

I really like how this post stirs my thinking up.
Do you think that most churches make leadership decisions the way someone like NBC might choose late night hosts?
Ego certainly gets in the way for any leader who insists on staying past their "prime".
Could it be that as leaders age how they lead and the contribution they make changes? Just "thinking out loud".
Again, thanks for stirring things up!
Keep creating…it freaks people out,
Mike

@mike // here's another thought. Jay Leno (or a pastor) may actually be at his prime but the more important factor is relevance.
…a 70 year old teaching pastor is probably at his best with years of experience under his belt…but he is probably not as effective as someone more relevant. Not that i like this….it's just the way it is.
