An open letter to everyone posting ads on Craig’s List for used cars

I’m looking for a used car. And when I say used, I really mean it. There is not a legitimate dealership in the country that keeps used cars in my price range in their inventory. I’m not looking for a total piece of junk, but something that I can get around in and not get the dime dropped on me every time I roll up to pick my kids up from school.

So in light of this, I have spent a lot of time on Craig’s List in the last few weeks and I have noticed a few things that just amaze me.

So to all the Craig’s List used car sellers out there:

Please check the value of your car before you post
Head on over to the Kelley Blue Book and check out your car. Here’s a tip, if you consider your car to be in ‘excellent’ condition select ‘good’ and if you think it’s in ‘good’ condition select ‘fair’. This one had me rolling on the floor; just because you owe 10,000 on a car doesn’t mean that’s what you should ask for it…especially when it blue books for 3,500 bucks. Good luck.

A sunroof is not a selling point
Sure go ahead and list it on the post…that’s cool, but not in the headline. Seriously?

Nobody wants to take over your payments
If we wanted a car payment we would be at the Toyota dealer. Remember: THIS IS CRAIG’S LIST not the DuPont Registry.

Quit trying to convince everyone that somehow ‘highway miles’ are better than other miles
Unless you’re a 70+ year old in a gold colored car, you drive too fast. Especially on the freeway.

You don’t need to YELL
Take the caps lock off and be cool man.

That is all

peace

I had churchie opportunities all day on Sunday at South By Southwest so I couldn’t make it to Valerie Casey’s keynote and I’m bummed I missed it. Here’s the highlights..bare in mind the audience she’s addressing are the people that make the internet and social media what what they are.

Gorillaz | Stylo Video

after about 2 minutes of listening to the new Gorillaz album last Tuesday I immediately went to Amazon and downloaded it. Right away you new Stylo was going to be the first single. Great song. And based on the ending I bet you can guess which song will be the next video. And it’s also one of my early favorites.

We started a new web series at The Intersection this week called Zeitgeist, which is a German word which means ‘Spirit of the times’ or ‘spirit of the culture’. The series is about exactly that; we take a look at culture and look for spiritual significance in it.
