Josh McDowell is Right; The Internet is the Greatest Threat to Christians
There’s been a lot of dialogue around the web regarding Josh McDowell’s comment in a keynote address that; The internet is the greatest threat to Christians.
I think he’s right.
Josh says that the main issue boils down to the abundance of information that has created more skepticism. This is not why Josh McDowell is right. Jesus can stand up to skepticism if we get out of the way.
The real reason that the internet is the greatest threat to Christians is Christians themselves!
Christians have yet to learn how to be effective in the age of content abundance. I’ve been saying this for two years; the vast majority of Christians and Christian leaders have no idea what they are doing when it comes to creating content on the internet.
We can no longer create content that was intended to be consumed in a closed environment (church building) and spew it all over the internet to land in the laps of people with no context or relationship in which to make sense of it. It’s why I wrote Context and Voice.

Quality Matters
I few days ago I talked about the difference between art and design and I think when we understand that concept the next step is realize that quality is the result of a solid workflow of art and design. When we are constantly stuck in the design phase, and not operating out of creative surplus, then we will almost always have to settle for ‘good enough’.
True quality comes out of creative surplus wherein we have the margin to do our best work.

Tour Stop #6 takes us to Michael Buckingham’s ever so awesome blog; Jesus Hates Papyrus. Michael runs Holy Cow Creative which does a whole heap of awesome things to help churches communicate creatively in just about every way possible. Michael is also a really cool cat to hang out with.
Tour stop #7 takes us to Seth Caddell’s blog; Life as Experienced. Seth is a pastor inVirginia and among other things is a disc golfer…which makes him rad in my book.
