about vince marotte

My name is Vince Marotte. I’m just like you, I’m trying to figure this whole thing out.
My identity is that of a Christ Follower, Husband and Father. I’m lucky to have a job that is also my passion; I’m the Internet Pastor at Gateway Church in Austin Texas. I’m still coming to terms with the fact that I now live in Texas, having come from California with a brief stint in Hawaii.
My blog here is a dumping ground for all the things going on in my head, some heavy, some light and others just useless. The spaces I tend to dwell in range from leadership and internet ministry strategy to politics and pop culture and a few smatterings of this and that in between.
Let’s connect
I try to make myself as available as I can because I am in this incredible position of being part of a small group of Christ followers who are pioneering internet ministry.

Full bio
I was born the 9th child of Catholic parents outside of Chicago in 1977. The first ten years of my life we bounced between Chicago and Northern California and in 1987 we settled in Sacramento which is where I consider myself to be from. It bears mentioning that in 1987 I started skateboarding and it has been an important part of my life ever since. I still get out and ride a few times a week. I tried golf for a while but I just couldn’t get with it.
I ended up at San Diego Christian College in 1996 and after a few changes I ended up studying Bible with an emphasis on youth ministry. I got involved in ministry when I was offered an internship at Shadow Mountain Community Church and I haven’t looked back since.
In 2000 Tami and I were married and in 2001 we moved to Kapa’a Kauai, Hawaii for a youth pastor position at Kapa’a Missionary Church. It was an incredible experience and while we were there our daughter Ashtynne was born.
While in Kauai I discovered a passion for evangelism and church planting that I didn’t know I had. Through that passion I found myself heading back to Southern California in 2003 to help plant a church and eventually two churches. Somewhere in there my son Steele was born and we were now 4.
In 2008 I started to lay the ground work for my own church plant and in spring of 2009 that turned into planting a church on the internet with the Gateway Church team here in Austin Texas. It is such a great fit for me and my skill set, gifts and vision.
So, that’s what I do…pretty dang exciting huh?
