Everyone is Beautiful
The other day I was at the gym playing hoops, I will school you on the hardwood, and I stopped to take it all in. I know Jesus wants me to love everyone and that can be really hard sometimes. I stood there, on the side of the court and looked at every person in that gym and thought:
“Everyone of these people is beautiful. They were created in God’s image and they are true.”
We all walk around this life with an idea of what is ‘good’. Good food. Good music. Good people. Good anything. And we compare, consciously or subconsciously, our idea of good and what we experience around us and then in-turn, pass a judgment.
This tends to cause us to focus on the negative, because it stands out against the contrast of what we think is good. Whether or not our ‘good’ is right or wrong, that’s not the point.
Enter Titus 1:15 (msg)
To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.
If I am pure in Christ, then I will see the beauty and truth in everything and everyone. With a my mind tuned into that reality, it is really easy to love everyone.
On the flip side, if I am not tuned into the mind of Christ, I will only see the ‘bad’. Yes it is there, but if that’s all I can focus on, I will not be effective for God’s kingdom.
