We have spent most of the last year looking for a way to improve community communications around Gateway Church Austin and we have settled on SoChurch to fill in the gaps between our ChMS, website and social media outposts.
Becky Laswell, who is the project lead, started a blog series to outline the details on how we’re using SoChurch.

I love my job and I love the people I get to work with. John Burke is the lead pastor here at Gateway Church in Austin and we recently launched a video blog for him called No Perfect People Allowed
I’m constantly amazed at John’s vision and heart for raising up a church out of the culture and It’s a blast to listen in and help shape the conversation as we make the videos for his blog in my office. My office is cooler looking than his and we’ve all seen way too many videos of pastors talking in front of bookshelves anyway.

People who would otherwise not come to church will give it a chance on Easter. At Gateway Church we use the opportunity to tell a story the way we know how…though art. This is a scene from our production call ‘See What Love Has Done’. It’s the story of the prodigal son through the music of U2.

At Gateway Church we are taking ministry on the internet to a whole new level and I need a creative developer that has a heart for ministry on the web. We have a vision and strategy that is unique and we need some killer web apps and sites to pull this thing off. At this early stage in the game I need someone who can gather people, lead a team, dream and execute big ideas and vision.
I’m looking for someone that might not exist, but here goes:
You Are: Active Internet Citizen, outgoing, creative
Skills Needed: PHP chops, Javascript, MySql, CSS, WordPress, video creation, social media, content management
Bonus Skills: flash, public speaking, writing, disc golf
The bulk of our spaces are built on Expression Engine, WordPress or Drupal depending on the needs.
