God fathering | hey daddy
I was 4 hours into a lego build with my son on Christmas morning and I was really wearing down. The kids were jumping on me at 6:15 in the morning amping and ready to tear into some gifts.
The reality was that I was doing all the building and he was doing the playing. I didn’t mind, it was Christmas and he was having a blast.
My son talks a lot. I’m sure every 6 year old boy talks a fair share, but for real, Steele can rattle on endlessly for hours I promise you. Sometimes it gets to me, especially when he gets in a mode where he is demanding my attention before each monologue with a series of; “Hey daddy”. You know the kind:
So back to Lego building. I’m trying desperately to pay attention to very intense directions on how to build an AT-ST Walker and just about every 8 seconds Steele pipes up; “Hey daddy…”. Literally.
Truth is, it didn’t bother me. We were having a blast. In the middle of it I thought of all the times that he was actually driving me nuts and I remembered why he was like that. He’s young and the world is so amazing and beautiful and around every corner is a brand new exciting experience.
Each one of these experiences is remarkable to my little dude…and it’s me that gets to hear the remark.
I never want to take that for granted.
Beautiful.

10 Years | If you are strong then I am strong
Ten years ago today I married the most incredible woman.
I have to be honest with you, all things considered it hasn’t been hard. In fact it has been one awesome adventure after the next. Sure there have been some trials along the way, but being together through the tough times only makes us closer.
Together we continue to shape each other into one inseparable being along with the two most precious gifts, Ashtynne and Steele. I literally can’t remember what life was like without Tami and our family…and that’s a good thing.
We continue to remind each other; If you are strong then I am strong.
I love you Tami
I love you Ashtynne
I love you Steele

Time lapse lego clean up
I asked my son to clean up his legos and 15 minutes later I came back to check on him and he had made zero progress and was riding on the lego box like it was a horse. I was intrigued and decided to document what the heck he was doing. it ended up taking him 22 minutes to finish the job. Here it is in 2:50.

My kids love the Fleet Foxes. AJ had the camera out when we were on the road and got Steele singing along:

That Can’t Be Comfortable
My son has some interesting sleeping habits. After we put him to bed, he likes to sneak downstairs and sleep. Sometimes he gets creative and hides, other times he just falls asleep somewhere odd.
Some nights when we go to check on him before we turn in for the night, we find an empty bed. Then the game of ‘find the sleeping Steele’ begins.
